Legend Of The Christmas Stocking

$17.99

A story of the generosity and kindness behind this Christmas tradition_for children ages 4-8 The legend behind the tradition of hanging and filling Christmas stockings is part of the story of St. Nicholas. Nicholas was a rich young man with a big heart. He threw bags of money through an open window to pay the dowry of three young women whose father could not afford to pay for their marriages. This legend of generosity is woven into a children’s story set in the early 1800s. A young boy named Peter sells newspapers to help his family during a difficult financial time when his father is away at sea on a sailing vessel. Peter saves a bit from his earnings in hope of buying a toy schooner he sees in the woodworker’s shop. But then, to provide a Christmas celebration for his sisters and mother, he spends his hard-earned savings on gifts for them. His selfless generosity is rewarded with a wonderful surprise.
